EPA and DHA bound to phospholipids, as found naturally in krill, allows for increased bioavailability of EPA and DHA. Phospholipids provide enhanced transport of fatty acids into cells. If pregnant or lactating, consult your physician before taking this product. Theoretically, krill oil may have side effects similar to fish oils, including burping, gastrointestinal upset or indigestion, nausea, diarrhea or abdominal bloating. It is recommended that individuals taking more than 2, 000 i.u. vitamin D per day have their blood levels monitored. Large doses of vitamin D can cause hypercalcemia, signs include headache, weakness, nausea, vomiting, and constipation. Individuals with hyperparathyroidism or kidney disease are at particular risk. Consult your physician for more information.
Krill oil may be contra-indicated with blood thinning medications. Vitamin D may result in hypercalcemia in certain individuals taking digoxin or thiazide diuretics. Consult your physician for more information.
