Caprese Salad

- 4 pieces Ripe, large tomatoes sliced
- 8 oz 225 grams Fresh mozzarella cheese
- Fresh basil leaves
- Extra-virgin olive oil
- Balsamic vinegar
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Wash the tomatoes and slice them into 1/4-inch thick rounds.
Slice the fresh mozzarella cheese into 1/4-inch thick rounds as well.
On a serving platter, arrange the tomato and mozzarella slices, alternating them to create a visually pleasing pattern.
Tuck fresh basil leaves between the tomato and mozzarella slices. You can use whole leaves or chiffonade them by stacking the leaves, rolling them up, and slicing thinly.
Drizzle extra-virgin olive oil generously over the tomato and mozzarella slices. You can also add a few drops of balsamic vinegar for extra flavor, but it's optional.
Season the salad with a pinch of salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Remember, the cheese and the optional balsamic vinegar can also add some saltiness, so taste before adding too much salt.
